10 23 – Emergency Rescue Robots Face Off in Ultimate Showdown!

When thick smoke blocks high-rises, when signals fade beneath rubble, and underwater visibility drops below half a meter—who can send rescue teams in first?

This is a critical question that urban safety governance must address in the AI era. Organized by Guangzhou City Investment Group in collaboration with Emergency Management University, Guangdong Academy of Sciences Academician Federation, and Shenzhen Public Welfare Rescue Volunteer Association, this initiative leverages technology to enhance public safety governance. It launches the nation's first real-scene emergency rescue competition, opening up the group's cultural tourism venues to move technology out of the lab, into real-world city environments, and onto actual rescue operations.

After more than two months of creative submissions, venue setup, and on-site testing, the finals of the "2026 Safety Emergency Response Robot Competition · Guangzhou" will officially take place on 2026/10/23, open to the public free of charge. The competition results will be released on 10/24.

38 teams compete in 7 ultimate events

The Grand Finals of the "2026 Safety Emergency Rescue Robot Competition · Guangzhou" will be held at the East Plaza of Lingnan Impression Park. Participating teams include universities such as Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Wuhan University, as well as leading industry companies like CEIEC Hikvision, Embodied Intelligence, and Shenzhen Deep Robotics Innovation.

First Look: How Tough Are These "Steel Comrades"?

Thick smoke fills the fire scene, and there's no signal beneath the rubble—this time, robots are sent in to rescue! On-site, you'll see:

Deploying robot dogs that withstand 100°C+ temperatures to conduct reconnaissance and transport supplies in fire zones and rubble.

Drones take off in 8-level winds and 120°C heatwaves to shatter glass and fight fires from above—more wind means more stability.

Drone that autonomously navigates through archways and S-curves while resisting turbulence across all environments

Autonomous robot that can navigate dense smoke and squeeze into tight spaces

The underwater precision positioning and buoyancy rescue robot has completed the buoyancy rescue of a 160-pound person in the water.

Teams from universities, research institutes, and enterprises will compete in realistic disaster scenarios—including high-rise fires and rubble ruins—to fully test robots' core capabilities in reconnaissance, load-bearing climbing, and three-dimensional firefighting.

Authoritative Leadership, Hard-Core Support

The competition invited Academician He Jingtang and Academician Meng Jianmin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering to serve as members of the Arbitration Committee. Leaders and experts from the Ministry of Emergency Management, Guangdong Provincial Department of Emergency Management, Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Emergency Management, China Earthquake Emergency Rescue Center, Guangdong Provincial Institute of Science and Technology for Safety Production and Emergency Management, and Hong Kong Civil Aid Service were present to provide authoritative support for the event.
